"I want to run the 10,000m at the Kenyan trials and I want to qualify for Rio," she said. "But as you know, the Kenyan trials are always explosive and no one is assured of a slot until you cross the line. I will be ready for the challenge."


Indeed the race for China ticket is thickening. There is the diminutive world 10,000m champion Vivian Cheruiyot to contend with.


Before 2014, no country had secured all of the medals in the women's race at the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships. Kenya has now pulled off the feat twice in a row.

FUKUOKA, Japan, June 30 (Xinhua) -- China and Japan agreed to launch an air and maritime contact mechanism as early as possible at their seventh round of high-level consultations on maritime affairs held here from Thursday to Friday.

The two sides reconfirmed the importance of signing a bilateral maritime search and rescue agreement and agreed to continue cooperation in this regard under bilateral and multilateral frameworks.


They agreed to have relevant departments of both countries cooperate on ship safety and pollution prevention at sea. They also confirmed the importance of enhancing fishery resource protection and management and agreed to improve fishery cooperation.

DHAKA, July 18 (Xinhua) -- The Asian Development Bank's (ADB) has approved 526 million U.S. dollars to help sustain and increase infrastructure investments in Bangladesh, particularly in financing public-private partnership (PPP) projects as well as renewable energy interventions.


The assistance consists of a 500-million-U.S. dollar market-based loan to finance medium and large-scale PPP infrastructure projects, and a 26-million-U.S. dollar concessional loan to finance small and medium-sized renewable energy and energy efficiency facilities, primarily in the rural areas of the country, said the Manila-based lender on Tuesday.


Both loans are under the Third Public-Private Infrastructure Development Facility (PPIDF 3), it said.


"Infrastructure development is an integral part of Bangladesh's rapid economic growth, but it is undeniable that in order to sustain this growth, the country would need an increased investment in infrastructure that can be filled in by the private sector," said Peter Marro, an ADB principal financial sector specialist.c
