NAIROBI Haason Reddick Youth Jersey , March 28 (Xinhua) -- World half marathon champion Peres Jepchirchir of Kenya will not take a rest, but immediately return to training as she prepares for the Yangzhou Half Marathon in China next month.

Until her glorious win at the World Half Marathon in Cardiff, Wales last Saturday, few people knew Jepchirchir. However, the Kenyan returned home Monday, aware the global spotlight will be fixed on her and she is enjoying it.

Asked if she has any plans to move up to the full marathon distance, Jepchirchir ruled it out as she seeks to firm her grip in the 21km distance.

"I don't plan to move up to the marathon. My next race will be the Yangzhou Half Marathon in China next month," she said with no uncertainty.

With the battle for tickets in the Kenya team becoming so intensive, Jepchirchir will be more relaxed and safe to focus on the shorter distances, if she is to have any realistic chances of making it to Rio in August for the Olympic Games.

"I want to run the 10,000m at the Kenyan trials and I want to qualify for Rio," she said. "But as you know, the Kenyan trials are always explosive and no one is assured of a slot until you cross the line. I will be ready for the challenge."

Indeed the race for China ticket is thickening. There is the diminutive world 10,000m champion Vivian Cheruiyot to contend with.

Before 2014, no country had secured all of the medals in the women's race at the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships. Kenya has now pulled off the feat twice in a row.

In a race that was decided only on the final straight, Jepchirchir added her name to the list of previous Kenyan winners of the title, joining the likes of Tegla Loroupe, Mary Keitany, Florence Kiplagat and Gladys Cherono.

From underdog to global champion. Now the challenge is to remain at the top in Yangzhou Half Marathon and Rio Olympics.

FUKUOKA, Japan, June 30 (Xinhua) -- China and Japan agreed to launch an air and maritime contact mechanism as early as possible at their seventh round of high-level consultations on maritime affairs held here from Thursday to Friday.

Officials from the two countries' ministries on foreign affairs, defense, security, transportation, agriculture, environment, energy and aquatic product attended the talks.

A plenary meeting and separate meetings of four working teams on politics and laws, maritime defense, maritime law enforcement and security, as well as maritime economy were held, with attendants exchanging views on issues related to the East China Sea and discussing concrete ways of conducting maritime cooperation.

The two sides agreed to launch a maritime and aerial communication mechanism between their defense departments as soon as possible and to further enhance communications in the defense area.

Based on memoirs signed by both sides, the Border Control Bureau of China's Ministry of Public Security and the Japan Coast Guard, further exchanged views on enhancing information exchange and law enforcement cooperation in cracking down on transnational crimes including smuggling, human smuggling and drug trafficking.

The China Coast Guard and the Japan Coast Guard, while recognizing the role played by current contact mechanism, agreed to strengthen their communication through information and people-to-people exchanges so as to further enhance mutual trust. They also exchanged views on cooperation between maritime law enforcement institutions of both countries.

The two sides also spoke highly of the 1st China-Japan Experts Dialogue Platform Meeting on Marine Debris Cooperation in Dalian, China in March 2017, and agreed to have the second meeting in Japan in 2018. They also agreed to hold a maritime debris seminar in Shanghai in November, and to conduct a joint investigation on marine debris within the year.

The two sides reconfirmed the importance of signing a bilateral maritime search and rescue agreement and agreed to continue cooperation in this regard under bilateral and multilateral frameworks.

They agreed to have relevant departments of both countries cooperate on ship safety and pollution prevention at sea. They also confirmed the importance of enhancing fishery resource protection and management and agreed to improve fishery cooperation.

They also exchanged views on the principled consensus on East China Sea issue and agreed to continue discussions on the issue.

They agreed in principle to hold the eighth round of high level consultations on maritime affairs in China later this year.

DHAKA, July 18 (Xinhua) -- The Asian Development Bank's (ADB) has approved 526 million U.S. dollars to help sustain and increase infrastructure investments in Bangladesh, particularly in financing public-private partnership (PPP) projects as well as renewable energy interventions.

The assistance consists of a 500-million-U.S. dollar market-based loan to finance medium and large-scale PPP infrastructure projects, and a 26-million-U.S. dollar concessional loan to finance small and medium-sized renewable energy and energy efficiency facilities, primarily in the rural areas of the country, said the Manila-based lender on Tuesday.

Both loans are under the Third Public-Private Infrastructure Development Facility (PPIDF 3), it said.

"Infrastructure development is an integral part of Bangladesh's rapid economic growth, but it is undeniable that in order to sustain this growth, the country would need an increased investment in infrastructure that can be filled in by the private sector," said Peter Marro, an ADB principal financial sector specialist.c

ADB says Bangladesh has recorded steady average growth of 6.3 percent between 2011 and 2015, enabling it to attain lower-middle income status in July 2015. But real gross domestic product (GDP) growth would need to reach an average annual rate of 7.4 percent during th.
